If your dog or cat has pain due to arthritis, they now have a new option for pain relief. Librela for dogs, and Solensia, for cats, are once-monthly injectable monoclonal antibody medications available from your veterinarian. Both of these medications limit nerve growth factor, which limit the pain involved in arthritis. This allows your pet to receive their current medications if needed. Your veterinarian will need to monitor your pet’s lab tests routinely as well as your pet’s weight.

For Librela, some dogs do not see full relief until the 2nd injection. Owners saw 50-57% improvement in pain in their dogs at 84 days. The most common side effects are urinary tract infection, bacterial skin infection, dermatitis, and increased blood urea nitrogen (BUN)*.

If you think your dog might have Osteoarthritis, fill out the Osteoarthritis (OA) Checklist for Dogs. You can bring the results to your veterinarian.

For Solensia, 77% of cats see improved mobility at 3 months. The most common side effects are local reactions at the injection site, and temporary vomiting, diarrhea, or not eating after the injection.

If you think your cat might not be as active as they once were, fill out this Osteoarthritis (OA) Checklist for Cats. You might be surprised by what signs indicate arthritis in a cat.
